Nevada Statewide Child
Death Review, 1999 to 2001
The Nevada
Children’s Justice Act Task Force was established in
1994 by DCFS to accomplish the objectives
outlined in the Federal Child Abuse Prevention and
Treatment Act, 42 U.S.C., Sec. 107, to review and evaluate: State investigative, administrative and both civil and
criminal judicial handling of cases of child abuse
and neglect, particularly child sexual abuse and
exploitation, as well as cases involving suspected
child maltreatment related fatalities and cases
involving a potential combination of jurisdictions,
such as interstate, Federal-State, and State-Tribal,
with a view to making recommendations for policy
change and training. The Review for 1999 to 2001 is below:
